Rounds: Round 2
1. Last year the Buccaneers drafted a developmental quarterback in Josh Freeman, who should be the face of the Buccaneers offense. Now they will need to look for the new face of their defense. It will be difficult to imagine the Buccaneers with a horrible defense but sadly for Buccaneers fans they do. 2. The Rams are just so desperate for a good quarterback it isn’t funny anymore. Marc Bulger will be coming back as their quarterback again, but honestly I don’t think he will make much of a difference from Kyle Boller. Now with Sam Bradford injured again Jimmy Clausen will most likely take the top quarterback spot. 3. Jake Locker is a hot prospect after his win against USC and with Sam Bradford‘s re-injury he will be flying up the boards more, I’m not very high on Locker as of right now but some teams in the top ten will be high on Locker and be willing to take a risk on him. 4. The Detroit Lions must protect their investment in Matthew Stafford, and the best place to start is by adding a dominating left tackle. Russell Okung would be a huge upgrade for Detroit’s offensive line, and could buy more time for Matthew Stafford. 5. Usually you don’t see a safety go in the top ten but Eric Berry is a rare talent. Berry is a dominating safety who can be the next Ed Reed and add a big play threat to the Chiefs horrible defense. Plus with no receiver worth a top ten pick the Chiefs will need to look elsewhere. 6. Daniel Snyder loves to draft big name players, and Sam Bradford falls under that category. Sam Bradford was projected as the top pick overall, but has fallen due to two shoulder injuries. But he can’t be worse than Jason Campbell or Todd Collins. 7. This pick just fit’s the Raiders draft philosophy so well, Taylor Mays has good size, and runs a great forty time. So Al Davis will fall in love with him the first time he sees, the only other possibility is Carlos Dunlap, who has struggled most of this year but the Raiders have done stranger things. 8. Walter Jones can no longer be a reliable tackle for the Seahawks, so they will need to find a replacement for him. Bruce Campbell has played really well this year and is fighting with Russell Okung for the top tackle spot. The only thing that hurts him is that Campbell has suffered from injuries. 9. Vince Young has played decent this year, so the Titans may decide to keep him and hope he develops more. So the Titans can look towards addressing defensive tackle position, that has been pretty bad since Albert Haynesworth left for Washington. 10. The 49ers have been very weak in their secondary, especially with the loss of Walt Harris. Joe Haden is the best corner in this years draft and should give the 49ers another shut down corner to play across of Nate Clements. Haden has 50 tackles and 3 interceptions this year 11. The Buffalo Bills have a major need at outside linebacker after the loss of Angelo Crowell. The dominating Travis Lewis would help improve Buffalo's defense. Although Travis Lewis is just a red-shirt sophomore he may decide to declare due to the possibility of a rookie pay scale. 12. There are two kinds of people in the world, for Tim Tebow, against Tim Tebow. The Jaguars GM has announced his interest in Tim Tebow, and if the Jaguars are picking near the top ten, then David Garrard most likely played mediocre this year. So the Jaguars could be looking for an upgrade 13. Manny Lawson has been a major disappointment this year, and will need to be replaced as soon as possible. Greg Hardy has struggled from injuries, but when he is fully healthy he is one of the most dominant players in the 2010 NFL Draft. 14. When you draft a new quarterback you need to get him all the protection you can get. Damien Woody is to way to unreliable to have play tackle for the Jets. Bulaga would be an immediate upgrade and help improve the Jets offensive line. 15. Chad Henne has played well this year, but he doesn’t have anyone to throw too. Ted Ginn Jr. along with several other Dolphin receivers have been a major disappointment this year. Damian Williams is one of the best route runners and should help improve the Dolphins receiving corps. 16. Aaron Rodgers is a fantastic young quarterback but he has no protection at all, he has been able to handle it but he could thrive in Green Bay if he had good protection. Charles Brown provides good value and would be a good tackle to help protect Aaron Rodgers blindside. 17. Champ Bailey and Andre’ Goodman are getting older, so they will need to be replaced. They drafted a ball-hawking corner in Alphonso Smith, now the Broncos need another shut-down corner to compliment Smith. Ghee currently has 52 tackles this year. 18. When you face Peyton Manning twice a year, you need to have a dominant secondary. The Texans failed to address the safety position until late in the draft, so they have to address it in the first two rounds. Earl Thomas has has 6 interceptions this year. 19. The Ravens were able to talk Derrick Mason out of un-retiring but I doubt he will come back for one year. So they will need to look for another young wide receiver for Joe Flacco to throw to, LaFell has good size and good hands to help the Ravens forget about Mason. 20. Flozell Adams is to unreliable and not worthy of a starting spot. The Cowboys need to do everything they can do to try to help build up Tony Romo’s confidence and a good start is to get Romo more protection, Davis should easily upgrade over Flozell Adams. 21. I have the Seahawks drafting their future left tackle, so the Seahawks will need to draft a young quarrterback. Ryan Mallett is very raw, and still has a lot to learn, but luckily for him he should be able to site behind Matt Hasslebeck for a year and learn from him. 22. The Cardinals are very thin at tight end, so the Cardinals will need to address that position. Gresham would provide good value and help improve the Cardinals. Despite Jermaine Gresham’s injury he is still my top tight end in the 2010 NFL draft. 23. The Giants are in need of secondary help and Dowling is the versatile defensive back that the Giants need. Terrell Thomas could make the switch to safety if they need him to than Dowling could stay at corner, or Dowling could switch to safety and Thomas remain at corner. 24. The San Diego Chargers inside linebackers have been mediocre at best and will need to be upgraded. This is great value for Rolando McClain and would add a dominate player to the Chargers defense. McClain is on pace for about 100 tackles. 25. Mike Peterson should get the job done for the Falcons for a year, but he will need to be replaced. Sean Weatherspoon would give the Falcons another good outside linebacker to play across of Curtis Lofton. Weatherspoon has an impressive 92 tackles so far. 26. The Bengals don’t have any major holes on their offense or defense so they can look towards adding depth and value. Cedric Benson has surprisingly played well this year, and a back like Spiller could be a nice complimentary back to Benson. 27. Kevin and Pat Williams were always big parts of their defense, but Pat Williams is 37 and will need to be replaced. Brian Price is a very under-rated defensive tackle who has a knack of getting to the quarterback. Price has 5 sacks so far in the season for UCLA. 28. The Pittsburgh Steelers are a very solid team, but they do have some weaknesses. Their major weakness is their offensive line. Trent Williams would provide the Steelers good value, and he could help the Steelers at either tackle position. 29. The Philadelphia Eagles don’t have any major weaknesses on their team. So they can look towards upgrading their defensive line. Derrick Morgan would give the Eagles a dominate defensive end to play across of Trent Cole. Morgan has an impressive 12 sacks, but falls due to the lack of a 4-3 defensive end. 30. Joey Galloway didn’t work out for the Patriots this year, so the Patriots will need to look for another receiver for Tom Brady to target. Bryant is a big play receiver that the Patriots would love to have play alongside of Wes Welker, and Randy Moss. 31. Greg Jones is a very under-rated prospect, he has just dominated all opposition this year. Jones already has 100+ tackles and shows no signs of slowing down. Thanks to the possibility of a rookie pay scale you may see several juniors declaring early this year, Jones is a prime example. 32. Darren Sharper has played very good this year but he isn’t getting any younger and will need to be replaced. McDaniel could even be an upgrade for the Saints, he currently has 70 tackles and an impressive 8 interceptions this year.
